About Me

I am an ambitious candidate for any Help Desk or Technical Support position. Not only do I enjoy problem solving, I also happen to be quite good at it. I have worked in the customer service field for quite some time and have learned to devote myself to making sure each customer or client is as satisfied as the last. In my previous positions, it was common for unexpected problems to occur including those involving computers or networks, i have become adept at coming up with solutions on the fly. If I don't have the particular information to solve a problem on hand, I will make good use of the vast amount of  resources that are available at any given time.

Career Objective

I didn't choose the IT field because it was something that just fell in to my lap, I chose the IT field because it is something that I am passionate about. I have always been the "go to guy" in my circle of friends and family for their computer and network related issues. I can't say that I have an ultimate goal for my career, if I did that, I would be putting a cap on what I can achieve. My short term goals however, include getting enough experience as a Help Desk/ Tech Support technician, to get in to the networking field. I have recieved my MCTS in Windows configuration, and am currently working on the MCITP to become more familiar with server environments. I have no issues with working my way up from the bottom, if given the chance, I will prove myself a dedicated employee who gets results when they are needed.

Certifications

I currently hold a MCTS certification in Windows 7 configuration. I am currently studying to take the 70-640 exam in an effort to become MCITP certified in Network Administration.




Skills




Configuration and Deployment



I am familiar with a wide range of tools used in the configuration and deployment of Windows 7. These tools include Windows Automated Installation kit, Windows PreInstallation environment, the Sysprep utility, DISM, BCDEdit, Windows Easy Transfer, and more. I have the  necessary insight to use these tools to deploy Windows to any number of PCs' with minimal effort as well as troubleshoot and solve issues related to the installation of Windows and Windows applications.



Networking


I am familiar with configuring and troubleshooting many different types of networks in both IPV4 and IPV6. I am able to recognize the different classes of networks (A, B, and C) and can also configure and install classless networks using subnet masking. I am able to use all of the tools at my disposal to troubleshoot network issues including Network Diagnostics, IPConfig, Ping, PathPing, NSLookup, PortQry, and Telnet. I am also aware of the functions of DNS and DHCP and can narrow down issues related to these as well.





Administration & Security



I am also familiar with a number of different administration and security tools including Group Policy Editor, Microsoft Management Console, Windows Firewall, Bitlocker, Cipher.exe, Credential Manager, and more. I am able to utilize these tools to provide a number of different services including creating and resetting passwords, encrypting files, configuring easy access to secure sites and servers, resolving conflicts with Windows Firewall and troubleshooting various security issues that may arise.





Troubleshooting and Problem Solving


I have learned a number of techniques through experience and study which can be used to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware and software failure. I have become familiar with the Windows 7 integrated troubleshooters and some third party programs as well. I have also developed a keen sense of where to begin with the process of elimination to get to the bottom of what is causing a particular issue. As with the other sections, there are a number of integrated tools that I can use to resolve such issues including Reliability Monitor, Resource Monitor, Windows Diagnostics, Windows Memory Diagnostics, Back up and Restore, and more.




Windows Server 2008 R2 and Active Directory


I have a fundamental understanding of Active Directory and working with a domain based off of Windows Server 2008 R2. I am familiar with using the various Windows Server snap-ins including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. I am able to configure a domain using Group Policy Objects and Organizational Units. Resetting passwords and administering new users is also something that I am able to do.




The skills listed above are just a snapshot of the various aspects of the IT field that I am familiar with at this time. I am an extremely fast learner and am retaining new information every day. If I neglected to mention something above, it does not necessarily mean that I am not familiar with it.


Experience

While I have no official professional experience in the IT field, I have been configuring and troubleshooting various Windows situations for over a decade, it was not until recently however, that I decided to build on this experience and try to make a career out of it. With that being said, I have been in numerous situations in my previous employment where I have been able to put my skills to use. I have troubleshooted faulty routers, static IP conflicts on a new network, driver issues, etc. Any of my previous employers will be able to attest to the fact that I was almost always able to resolve technical related issues, and I have even been given cash bonuses for my work in the past. I spent 4 months studying for the 70-680 exam and practicing in a virtual environment, I was able to pass my test on the first try because if the time and effort that I put in to learning the material, I will commit that dedication to anything that need to learn to achieve my goals.
